Learn to Thrive
Mindfulness is about learning to be more aware of our moment to moment experience, bringing attention to our thoughts, feelings and body sensations, and the world around us, all without judgment. Mindfulness practice increases awareness, acceptance and self-compassion and helps us manage difficult experiences, and create space to make wise choices.
Marie has a longstanding regular mindfulness practice. She completed her Mindfulness teacher training with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University in 2016 and has been delivering mindfulness courses at Ulster University since then.
MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION 8 WEEK PROGRAMME
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is an 8 week course developed by Jon Kabat Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in the USA that has been used for over thirty years and is scientifically proven to help people cope better with stress, anxiety and unhelpful emotions. The course teaches us how to cultivate awareness and be less caught up in automatic thoughts, feelings and behaviour patterns. It is ideal for people who want to improve how they cope with stress or enhance their general health and wellbeing.
This is a highly experiential course. Participants are guided through both formal and informal mindfulness practices, and learn how to bring mindfulness and awareness into daily life. The programme requires significant personal commitment to establishing a daily home practice.
The programme consists of:
8x2 hour weekly sessions
A full day retreat
Daily home assignments and practice
